False Threats/Offhand Remarks

Please emphasize to students that this is not a joke, it is not funny, and that they need to be very mindful of what they say. Ten years ago, if a student said, "I'd like to blow this place up!", no one would have been as concerned as today. TODAY, that same comment could land that student in a room with a SAP team member, an administrator, a mental health professional, a police officer, and their parents. Governor Ridge has issued a statement that consequences for false threats will be "swift and severe."

This is a serious matter.
